A story set in 1957, about a coal miners son.  It shows the struggles of a young boy who doesn't want to work in the dangerous mines.  He works hard on a rocket to get a scholarship for college.  He has to quit school and work in the mine when his father gets injured in the mine.  It is a little out of the time period but shows how hard mine work is.
