A Coal Miner's Bride Think-Pair-Share

Page history last edited by Steffanie Bristow 13 years, 1 month ago

The purpose of Think-Pair-Share is to reinforce student understanding of key vocabulary terms by having them think about the vocabulary term independently, share their thoughts with a partner and then the group.  A brisk pace is encouraged to keep students engaged in the activity.

Steps:

  • Announce a vocabulary term - students will individually "think" about the term and associated task.
  • Announce "pair" at which time students will share their thoughts with their partner (partners will encourage and provide feedback).
  • Announce "share" at which time a few select groups can be called upon to share what they discussed and learned.

Option #1 - Students will think-pair-share vocabulary definitions

Option #2 - Students will think-pair-share sentences using the target vocabulary term

Option #3 - Students will reference their  completed linear array (A Coal Miner's Bride Linear Array Activity) and share identical/similar/opposite words with each other

Thanks for adding this extra explanation of how to use so a teacher would not have to look it up somewhere else.
