This sight would be useful in showing how mining can cause a town to move. A town called Hibbing, Minnesota was relocated so they could expand mining production. This video shows old footage of the town and it literally being moved so the mining productions could expand. This correlates with the book, in that the town that the story takes place is "Old Hibbing". You can go to the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm, MN. and take a tour along the mine pits on a trolley. They still have some of the location houses where the miners and their families used to live. There is also a virtual tour available on the sight listed below:

This sight provides a song about the iron range and includes a video of clips of mining towns on the iron range.

This sight shows how immigrants came over from finland and all over the world. They moved to the "Iron Range", located in northern Minnesota. They had lumber camps and mines starting up, which provided many with jobs. This is where Anna's Papa worked ( In the mines and lumber camps, like shown at the beginning of the video)
